What is Deckrealm?
Deckrealm is the universe of all my current characters which I make solely for fun. All these characters have their own separate stories and I don't imagine they meet at any point. In a nutshell, the world is inhabited by beings called Cardfolk. Unlike regular creatures, they appear suddenly as newborns and there is always 12 in each realm, a new one appearing every time another dies. Although they used to hold power, nowadays they're treated like normal people aside from the two special Cardfolk in each realm who are bound together that were chosen to lead (this being the king and queen).
Charlie
Charlie Holley, otherwise known by the stage name of The Butterfly, runs a modest circus with the help of Eloise, Johnny, and twins Jennifer and Carrie. Although funds are tight, their performances are slowly gaining traction due to their talent and charisma. Charlie’s little brother Fred, however, is terribly ill and the reason he began circus work in the first place was to raise money for his expensive treatment. Due to Charlie’s humble nature, it’s a secret only the other performers know about, but things have only started to look bleaker for poor Fred’s health. That was, until the circus got a letter from the famous performer Amnesty inviting them for an application to her new circus funding project. If they manage to impress her, Charlie might just have enough to finally help Fred’s illness, although that’s not his only desire…
Deirdre
When ambitious but work-loathing teen Tucker Holland is sent to live with his grandmother on the coast, he sees his punishment as a blessing instead as he becomes closer than ever to achieving his dream of being a surfer. Once he makes it to the sand with his newly-bought surfboard, however, he finds a crowd that's a whole lot different than what he imagined in his dreams. A group of bigger, more experienced surfers are quickly determined to undermine him every chance they get, and Tucker decides he'll do anything in his power to prove himself... no matter how dangerous.
Doctor Marvello
Near the foothills of the tallest winter peaks, rumors speak of a certain Doctor Marvello: the owner of a special love machine that can magically bring back love that was lost. His prices are high, his exact methods unknown, but no couple that has visited him has ever left without a smile. Meanwhile, Maria Flores investigates a mysterious spike in strange symptoms: people acting strangely peppy no matter what bad news they receive, and they all appear to have visited this doctor character. As she’d soon find out, there’s another mystery connected to him, one that she’d nearly lost all hope in answering.
Mac
Mac Pauderson lives a carefree life in the country, and on the surface, he’s just like anyone else. He’s one of the few hybrids in his town which include his wife Delilah, and his day mostly consists of performing gigs, entertaining kids at the local orphanage, and… scamming. For nearly ten years, he and Delilah have been figuring out creative ways to steal money from the other townsfolk, from fake potions to supposed cureall. With the help of Mac’s new friends Jack and Duke, they’ve gotten better at it. Delilah has, however, begun to have second thoughts about if what they're doing is really morally right. It doesn’t help that Mac spends more time with his new friends now than with her, it seems. She wants her husband to be happy, but is stealing truly the way to go about it?
Mr. Bellamy
The head researcher at the somewhat secretive company Clardy Science and Research, Mr. Bellamy proposes a new experiment: an artificial mind control that would later be known as MAF-06. Over the next two months, several live tests were conducted with the newly created organism, but each one was deemed unsatisfactory by Bellamy. In part due to a declining mental state, he'd infect himself with MAF-06 one night in an attempt to finally get the results he was looking for. Afterwards, he became a different person, and chaos ensues as the lab workers scramble to find a way to save their head researcher while also saving themselves.
